MADRE DE DIOS CHAPEL

Located in the premises of Tagaytay Highlands, the Madre de Dios Chapel was dedicated to Mary, Mother of God. It is under the ecclesiastical territory of San Guillermo Parish, Talisay, Batangas, Archiocese of Lipa. The Chapel features a modern style with a countryside feel. Its ceiling has wooden beams and matching fans and wrought iron chandeliers that makes for  an interesting view overhead. The simple lines and muted colors add to the chapel’s elegance.

REQUIREMENTS FOR WEDDING APPLICATION:

1. The required canonical interview, forms and documents should be completed, at least, two (2) months before the wedding. Requirements have to be submitted personally by the couple to San Guillermo Parish, Poblacion, Zone 5, Talisay, Batangas, 4220. Tel No:(043) 773-0052. Email address:parish_sanguillermo10@yahoo.com.  

2. Madre de Dios Chapel will provide the wedding couple an Officiating Priest as requested. Requesting couple must inform the Chapel Coordinator at least two (2) months before the wedding date. The name of the Officiating Priest will be provided to the requesting couple a month before their wedding day. 

            2.1 Should the requesting couple change their mind and decides to provide their own priest, they must send a written advice to the Chapel Coordinator not later than three (3) weeks before the wedding day and must send at once the name of the officiating priest of their choice, his license number and contact details to solemnize wedding. Any advise made later than the said due date will no longer be honored. 

            2.2 In such case, the priest who will be provided by MDD Chapel will remain to be the officiating priest whose name will appear in the marriage contract. The guest priest of the couple though, may come as to con-celebrate in the mass but not to officiate in the wedding. 

            2.3 Couple who intend to provide their officiating priest will have to take care of the priest's honorarium. 

3. List of names and addresses of sponsors (ninongs and ninangs). A minimum of one (1) pair and a maximum of six (6) pairs are allowed. If the couple wishes to have more than six pairs of sponsors there will be a charge of Php 400 per pair to be paid at San Guillermo Parish during the Canonical interview.  

4. Authenticated (NSO) copy of Birth certificate of both the groom and the bride.  

5. A copy of Baptismal and Confirmation Certificates of Groom and Bride from the church where they were baptized and confirmed, (certificates are valid for six months from the date issued), with annotations “for marriage purposes only”.   

6. Couple must secure a Certificate of no Marriage (CENOMAR) from the Philippines' National Statistics Office even those who are civilly married in abroad. It must be secured within the six month period before the wedding day.  

7. Marriage License to be acquired from the Civil Registry of Marriage of the City or Municipality of either the Groom and the Bride (License is valid for 120 days or 4 months).  License issued outside Batangas should be submitted together with a valid ID or Billing Statement with address as a proof of the Groom/Bride's residence.  

8. If civilly married, the authenticated copy of Marriage Contract from the National Statistics Office or LCR (Local Civil Registrar –City Hall) is required.  If marriage was done outside the country, the authenticated Marriage Contract should be translated into English if it is written in one's dialect or Nationality.  

9. A certificate of attendance in the Pre-Cana Seminar or Marriage Preparation Program or other programs related to marriage. Couple may attend the seminar in their respective parishes or any Catholic parish/institution who conduct such seminars. It must also be attended within the six month period before the wedding date. Discovery Weekend Seminar does not suffice to this requirement.  

10. Canonical Interview with the parish priest of San Guillermo Parish to be conducted two months before the wedding date or on the date agreed upon by Parish Priest of the San Guillermo,Talisay, Batangas and the couple.  

11. Wedding Banns and Permit to be announced for three consecutive Sundays in the respective Parish of the groom and of the bride. The forms will be provided by the San Guillermo Parish and filled up during the canonical interview. 

12. ID pictures should be 3 pcs of 1x1 and 1 pc of 2x2 colored and recent.  

13. Duly signed copy of the receipt acknowledging and conforming with Madre de Dios Chapel Rules and Regulations.  

14. Couples whose marriage has been declared null and void must present the Document of Nullity from the competent Matrimonial Tribunal from the place where previous marriage was contracted and a letter of approval from the Archdiocesan Chancery Office of Lipa.  

15. Widowers and widows must present the Death Certificate of their deceased partner.  

16. If under armed forces services, Certification of Freedom to Marry from the higher headquarter or office.  

17. For wedding anniversaries, the couple or their coordinator should submit a certified copy of their marriage certificate contracted from their wedding in a Catholic church.

Additional Requirements:  

18. Marriage between a Catholic and a Non-Catholic:   
A certificate of freedom to marry from the non-Catholic Minister or Pastor.  Promise for mixed marriage form to be filled up during the canonical interview with the Archdiocesan Canon Lawyer. The document has to be submitted to the Chancery Office of the Archdiocese of Lipa for approval.  
             - Certificate of freedom to marry from the foreigner's parish office.  
             - Legal capacity to marry from the foreigner's national consulate or Embassy if not civilly married.  

19. Marriage between a Filipino and a Foreigner:  
Secure a certificate of clearance from the Chancery Office of the Archdiocese of Lipa located at Archdiocesan Chancery of Lipa, Cathedral Site, Lipa City, Tel. No. (043) 756-2572.  
             - Certificate of freedom to marry from the foreigner's parish office.  
             - Legal capacity to marry from the foreigner's national consulate or Embassy.  

20. Marriage between a Filipino and a Japanese National: 
Japanese citizens must secure a clearance from Fr. Wilfredo Rosales at Archdiocesan Chancery of Lipa, Cathedral Site, Lipa City, Tel. No. (043) 756-2572.  

21. For Filipinos residing abroad (not civilly married): 
For a couple or one of the parties who has resided in abroad for six months or more, photocopies of the following requirements are to be submitted to the Archdiocesan Chancery of Lipa, Cathedral Site, Lipa City, Tel. No. (043) 756-2572.  
           - certificate of freedom to marry from the parish of residence abroad.  
           - certificate of legal   capacity to marry from the foreigner's national consulate or Embassy 
           - certificate of permission to celebrate marriage from the Chancery Office of the Archdiocese of Lipa that can be secured through a canonical interview with the Archdiocesan canon lawyer.  

22. For Filipinos residing abroad (civilly married): 
For a couple or one of the parties who has resided in abroad for six months or more, photocopies of the following requirements are needed to be submitted at the Archdiocesan Chancery of Lipa, Cathedral Site, Lipa City, Tel. No. (043) 756-2572.  
            - certificate of freedom to marry from the parish of residence abroad  
            - authenticated copy of the marriage certificate  
       
    - certificate of permission to celebrate marriage from the Chancery Office of the Archdiocese of Lipa that can be secured through a canonical interview with the Archdiocesan canon lawyer.   

23. Release of Marriage Contract: 
Certified true copy of the marriage contract (from LCR Talisay) can be secured one to two weeks after the wedding day at the Marketing Office, Administration Building, Tagaytay Highlands International Golf Club, Inc. Prior notice for pick-up is requested.  
 
23.1 Information for Marriage Contract Authentication  
 
         
♦ Normal processing period of the marriage contract at NSO takes three (3) to six (6) months after wedding day.

REGULATIONS AND RESTRICTIONS:

A. Reservation Policies: 
 
1. Reservation must be made at least 3 months to 1 year in advance with non-refundable deposit of Php 5,000.  
 
       N.B Coordination with San Guillermo Parish Office Talisay, Batangas must be made three (3) months before the wedding schedule for processing of the wedding documents. 
 
2. Reservation for the use of the chapel is limited to the time of its usage. The Club allots two hours for the entire use of the chapel. The first thirty minutes is provided for the set-up of floral arrangements and the gathering of the assembly. The remaining time is provided for the ceremony and picture taking.   

3. Clients who may wish to prepare the physical arrangements of the chapel earlier than the said time may be allowed  if there is no wedding preceding theirs and only with the permission of the Chapel Coordinator. 
  
4. In case of cancellation a written communication and receipt issued during reservation must be presented. The reservation is automatically forfeited and not transferable to another person.  

5. In case of changing the wedding date, the receipt issued during the reservation must be presented or a written communication is required provided that the desired date is still available. The communication must be done at least two (2) months before the wedding.  

6. Balance should be paid a month before the wedding through the Banquet Sales Office.

 

B. Mass & Wedding Rites: 

1. Fixed schedules of wedding are: ten (10:00) in the morning, three (3:00) and five thirty (5:30) in the afternoon, other time is subject for approval. Processional march should begin not less than fifteen minutes before the appointed time. 

 N.B If the wedding falls on December 15 to 25, the couple must provide their own priest if the time of their wedding is 5:30 in the afternoon. The club cannot provide a priest because of Simbang Gabi. 
 
2. Be punctual on the wedding day. The whole entourage should assemble at least thirty (30) minutes before the scheduled time. If the groom, the bride, and the members of the entourage are late, there will be no more picture taking at the end of the Holy Mass. Be reminded that there is only one (1) hour and a half time allotted per wedding [one (1) hour Holy Mass, thirty (30) minutes for picture taking]. Exceeding more than the time allotted will be charged Php 5,000. Ceremonies, which may begin late, may have to be shortened or the Priest has the option to omit his Homily.   

3. The chapel reserves the right to provide its own seasoned official commentator for the smooth flow of the celebration. 
 
4. The couple should provide readers for the Holy Mass [1st Reading and Responsorial Psalm, 2nd Reading and Prayers of the Faithful]. They must observe modesty in dressing and proper decorum during the ceremony. They must arrive at the chapel at least an hour before the appointed time for practice and instructions. 
 
5. The Chapel can provide for a draft of a wedding missalette which can be obtained upon request. If couple has their own missalette, they must submit it to the Chapel Coordinator a month before the wedding date for approval. Missalette must be atleast 13 font size with Arial font style.  

6. Guest Singers and organist are welcome but they must observe the following norms:  

              Only liturgical songs and melodies are allowed during the entire Wedding Mass & Ceremony (Entourage to Dismissal of the Mass). Secular love songs that were checked by the Chapel Coordinator may be rendered during the pictorial.  
              All parts of the Holy Mass that are usually sung may be accompanied with music or sung unless specified by the officiating priest. Songs must be liturgical and must be common among the congregation. 
              No musical accompaniment is allowed during the entire nuptial rites. 
 
7. Further Developments:  

             No personal vows allowed 
             No closing and opening of doors for the Bridal Entourage 
             No cap inside the Chapel 
             No earrings for men

DECORUM:  

1.The wedding mass and rites will be under the supervision of the Official Chapel Coordinator. Rehearsals are also supervised by the Chapel Coordinator with a charge of Php 1,000/hour (for electricity).  Rehearsals should be advised one week prior.   

2. Madre de Dios Chapel is a sacred place. All guests are expected to observe SILENCE while inside the chapel.  

3. Throwing or scattering of objects at the wedding: rice, petals, confetti, fireworks of any kind, are not allowed inside the Chapel. Only flower petals are allowed to be thrown out by the entrance of the Chapel. There will be a charge of Php 3,000 if this was not followed.  

4. Arc decorations and other swags tied in between pews are not allowed inside the chapel.   

5. The dress code must be followed strictly. Ladies dressed in sleeveless, tubes and backless are discouraged. They should have a shawl.   

6. The ring and coin bearers as well as the flower girls must be at least four years of age.  

7. Greetings and pleasantries of parents, relatives, and friends of the couple should be done outside the Chapel or at the reception area.  

8. Both professional and family photographers may take video coverage and photos. However, all concerned must remember that marriage is a religious celebration and not a rally or propaganda affair. Because of this, sacredness of the mass and the celebration of wedding should be preserved all throughout. The following particular regulations should be followed:   

             Wacky shots are not allowed inside the Chapel. 
             All photographers and videographer must coordinate to the chapel coordinator of Madre de Dios Chapel on or before the wedding day for briefing.  
             All photographers and videographers are off limits on the ground of the altar table. 
             Only those photographers and videographers who are wearing the ID pass issued by Madre de Dios Chapel are allowed to take shots at the corner of the sanctuary, far from the altar table, during the nuptial rites. All the rest are not allowed to step in at the floor of the Sanctuary to take shots during the Holy Mass and wedding rite. ID passes should be submitted back to the Chapel Coordinator after the Mass. 
            Photographers and videographers are discouraged to take pictures while the priest is delivering his homily and while in the part of consecration. 
            If the above rules were not followed, P 5,000 charge will be applied as penalty and will be banned in the Chapel. 
            They must follow the church sequence for pictorial:

                     ◙  Couple with secondary sponsors 

                      ◙  Couple with best man, maid of honor, bride's maid, Groom's men, flower girls and bearers 
                     ◙  Couple with parents 
                     ◙  Couple with the Principal Sponsors 
                     ◙  Couple with groom's immediate family 
                     ◙  Couple with bride's immediate family 
                     ◙  Couple with Friends     

9. Wedding coordinators are allowed during the ceremony and should facilitate especially during the entourage and the offertory but they must coordinate first with the Chapel and Parish Coordinators and must follow and should have the copy of the Chapel Rules and Regulations.  

10. Any other arrangements must be made in a written agreement with the Chapel Coordinator.
